Machaba Safaris

Dining at Machaba Camp isn’t just about the home-cooked and inspired dishes made by our talented chefs; it’s a chance to come together and share the news of the day.
Around the picnic table in the middle of the bush, an enraptured audience listens to the recounting of the morning’s adventures, a lounging lion, a laughing hyena or a murmuration of birds that caught your attention for a while.
Unhurried and comfortable, lunch is so much more than a delicious meal.
Here, in the wilderness, the land calls and everything else answers.
A lion roars and the land goes silent. The rains fall, and dormant seeds begin to open. A bird chirps, and the herd moves away.
In nature, there is always a cause and effect. Every sound, every movement, every change in the air is part of one long, unbroken conversation between all living things.

The waters have arrived at Kiri Camp. The wait is over, and one of Africa’s greatest natural spectacles has begun.
Every year, floodwaters begin an extraordinary journey from the highlands of Angola, travelling for months before reaching the Okavango Delta. As they arrive, quiet channels begin to fill, the landscape awakens, and the wilderness prepares for a remarkable new season.
This is the Delta at its most alive.

There is something deeply nostalgic about spending time in a canvas safari tent on the Okavango Delta.
First light slips through the tent flaps. A Fish Eagle calls somewhere across the water while the Delta slowly wakes, and the rest of the world feels a lifetime away.
As evening falls, a quiet soak, a gin and tonic on the deck, and a sky full of stars are all the reminder you need that some experiences never lose their magic.

Seeing the bush through the eyes of a guest is something we love to experience.
A moment captured, a memory immortalised in film, photographs that can be shared, printed and remind us of the stories made on safari.
Thank you, Jorg, for sharing these incredible snaps during your stay in Mana Pools.
