🌱 Healthy Soils. Resilient Food Systems. Stronger Regional Partnerships.

Southern Africa is strengthening its commitment to restoring soil health and building more resilient food systems.
From 24–26 June 2026, CCARDESA joined regional and international partners in co-hosting the Joint F'SAGRI – "4 per 1000" Southern Africa Regional Conference on Soil Health in Pretoria, South Africa. The conference convened scientists, policymakers, farmers, development partners, academia, and the private sector to exchange knowledge, forge partnerships, and advance practical solutions for sustainable soil management across the region.

The event brought together leading organizations, including F'SAGRI, the "4 per 1000" Initiative, Agricultural Research Council, South Africa's DSTI, SADC, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), AUDA NEPAD, Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa - FARA, GIZ and institutions of higher learning, reaffirming the importance of collaborative action in addressing soil degradation and strengthening agricultural resilience.

Healthy soils are the foundation of productive agriculture, climate resilience, biodiversity, and food security. Through regional collaboration and science-driven innovation, Southern Africa is taking meaningful steps towards a more sustainable future.
