♟️🌍Curro Baobab Heads to the World Schools Chess Championship – Continental Stage! 🇧🇼

Curro Baobab is proud to announce that our chess team has received a wildcard nomination from the African Chess Federation to represent Botswana at the World Schools Chess Championship – Continental Stage, taking place at the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa, from 6–11 July.

The nomination follows an outstanding performance at the National Chess Qualifiers held at the University of Botswana, where Baobab finished second overall. The selection also recognises Curro Baobab as Botswana's first and only FIDE Award-winning school for excellence in chess development.

Adding to this incredible achievement, the World Chess Federation (FIDE) will sponsor the team's flights, accommodation and meals for the championship.

Our talented team includes Thabani Balang, Mokhaya Mannathoko, Kgantontle Seakgosing and Abale Seakgosing, accompanied by coach Vincent Masole and team manager Onkemetse Katambarare.

This milestone is especially meaningful as Thabani and Mokhaya were also part of the history-making Curro Baobab team that represented Botswana at the World Schools Chess Championship in Kazakhstan in 2023. Today, Curro Baobab proudly stands as one of only three schools in Africa to receive a FIDE Bronze School Award for outstanding chess development and support.

The countdown is on to the ISAB Athletics Championships, and Team Curro Baobab is ready to take on the best! 💪🔥

Our Curro Baobab Interhouse Athletics Meet transformed the Astro Stadium into a hive of excitement as Tholo, Phala, Kukama, and Tshepe, battled for house glory and a place on the team that will represent Baobab at the National Stadium this July.

After an impressive start in the field events, Tshepe carried their momentum through the track events to be crowned: 2026 Interhouse Athletics Champions! 🏆🎉
