Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
We appreciate and acknowledge the fact that entrepreneurs and employees that have high technical skills, and analytically intelligent for their respective cadres do perform better than those who do not possess these attributes. We do observe that even with these skill sets, these individuals sometimes fail. Why? These failures are related to problems with co-workers (the way they talk to them, they relate, their voices filled with rage, disputes with managers/surbodinates/spouse/children/relatives and the list goes on) and or lack of practical intelligence. According to Travis Badberry " EQ is so critical to success that it accounts for 58 percent of performance in all types of jobs. It is the biggest predictor of performance in the work-place and strongest driver of leadership and personal excellence"

Remember you have to be Emotionally Intelligent to transcend your technical or job related skill to be more successful. Knowing how to deal with yourself and being aware of your emotions; knowing how to manage your emotions (and stop being a dynamite or a "tortoise"). Some people think by continually shouting and blasting others is being Emotionally Intelligent, but it is a behaviour that speaks to how Emotionally Intelligent you are. Very Emotionally destructive to them and the people around them. You need to know how to deal with society and manage their emotions. Emotional Intelligence is not about bottling negative emotions or encouraging positive ones. That is what most people do and think they are Emotionally Intelligent. They are NOT.

What is EQ? According to J. Freeman " Emotional Intelligence might be thought of as the ability to perceive, understand, and regulate one's moods and emotions in order to use them to succeed in life".
