On the margins of the Meeting of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ministers of Justice/ Attorneys General, held on 05 June 2026 in Victoria Fall, Zimbabwe, His Excellency Mr. Elias Magosi, Executive Secretary of SADC, met with Honourable Guillaume Atondoko Andali Ngefa, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed commitment to strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation. The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in judicial and legal matters, including ongoing efforts to promote the effective administration of justice and the SADC Administrative Tribunal.
The deliberations also focused on regional initiatives aimed at supporting peace, security and stability in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The parties underscored the importance of sustained regional cooperation, dialogue and collective action in addressing the challenges facing the region and advancing the objectives of peace, security and socio-economic development.

The Inaugural Indigenous Knowledge-Based Technology Innovation Investment Summit concluded on a high note today the 4th June 2026 in Johannesburg, South Africa, marking a significant milestone in advancing indigenous knowledge systems, innovation, and sustainable development across the region.
The pioneering summit brought together entrepreneurs, researchers, innovators, investors, students and development partners to explore practical ways of strengthening the Indigenous Knowledge (IK) innovation sector. Key discussions focused on institutionalising the IK innovation ecosystem, promoting public-private partnerships (PPPs) for blended financing of research and innovation infrastructure, and enhancing local manufacturing capacity and industrialisation through the commercialisation of Indigenous Knowledge value chains.
On the margins of the Summit, the SADC Secretariat convened a regional policy meeting aimed at advancing the development of a SADC Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) Policy and Strategy. The meeting provided a platform for Member States to exchange experiences and identify priority actions towards a coordinated regional framework for the preservation, protection, promotion, and utilisation of Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
Delivering closing remarks at the Summit, Acting Senior Programme Officer for Science, Technology and Innovation at the SADC Secretariat, Mr. Reaboka Morakabi, underscored the urgency of developing a regional IKS policy to guide Member States in harnessing Indigenous Knowledge for innovation, industrialisation, and socio-economic development.
The Summit was organised through a collaborative partnership involving the National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF), The Innovation Hub, North-West University, the University of Venda, the University of Limpopo, and other key stakeholders committed to advancing Indigenous Knowledge-based innovation in Africa.
