As Botswana evolves economically, CEDA continues to adapt its products and interventions to respond to emerging opportunities and national priorities. The CCEO spoke about the recently launched strategic financing products aimed at strengthening Botswana’s agricultural value chains:
🔹A-Di-Tsale Cattle Financial Suite. A product designed to support activities such as breeding, feedlots, livestock production, processing, leather beneficiation, and other downstream opportunities within the beef value chain.
🔹The Poultry Financial Suite - A product that seeks to support growth across the poultry value chain, including hatcheries, feed production, broiler and layer production, processing, packaging, logistics, and distribution.
The Agency’s partnership with Business Botswana reflects our commitment to building sustainable citizen enterprises, strengthening local value chains, and supporting Botswana’s transition from a resource-based economy to a production and export driven economy.

Botswana's poultry sector has long carried the weight of structural challenges; high feed costs, inadequate processing infrastructure, limited hatchery capacity, and a heavy reliance on imported products that could otherwise be produced domestically. These are not new problems, but they have persisted in part because the financing and support mechanisms available to farmers and agribusinesses were not sufficiently tailored to the realities of the sector.
The revamped suite addresses this by offering targeted financing solutions across the entire value chain. Cooperatives and farmer associations are included as eligible beneficiaries, recognising that collective enterprise is often the most practical and resilient model at the community level. The enabling environment has been constructed with deliberate care. What is now required is that farmers, investors, development partners, and sector stakeholders rise to meet it with the seriousness, discipline, and long-term commitment that an opportunity of this scale demands.
