My experience on the Car declarations process at the border when crossing to SA🇿🇦🇧🇼.

When crossing into SA with your Botswana car this is the process. You need to aquire this paper called Temporary Import Permit (TIP) with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) at the border.
This new process requires declaring your vehicle and getting a permit valid for up to 6 months.
Key Requirements & Process:
Documentation: Carry your passport, driver’s license, and original vehicle registration papers (blue book).
If Not the Owner: You must have a signed letter of authorization from the owner and a police affidavit.
Financed Vehicle: A cross-border letter of authorization from your financial institution is mandatory.
Rental Car: A cross-border letter from the rental company is required.
Declaration Steps:Complete immigration.Go to the SARS counter to complete the Temporary Vehicle Declaration Form.Register on the SARS Traveller Management System to potentially speed up the process.You must report to SARS again when leaving SA to confirm the vehicle's exit.
