Pension and retirement funds arrangements provide benefits to you when you retire and in certain circumstances such as in the event of one’s death. The people who are legible to receive these benefits are your beneficiaries and they are usually your spouse, civil partner or children. But the definition of beneficiaries can be broader than that. Dependents are people that are financially dependent on you however beneficiaries don't have to be dependents.
