Awareness Training on Electrical Safety and Quality Assurance in Electrical Installations.
With electrical hazards such as short circuits posing growing risks, the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, in collaboration with the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Development, organized a two-day training on Electrical Safety and Quality Assurance in Electrical Installations from August 30–31, 2025. Funded by the Asian Development Bank project TA-6598 BHU: Preparing Renewable Energy for Climate Resilience, the training brought together first-year students of Electrical, Electronics and Communication, and Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
The programme covered fundamental design principles of electrical installations, compliance with safety regulations, quality assurance practices, fire safety, and occupational health and safety. A key highlight was a hands-on session on first aid and basic life support, delivered by Dr. Sonam Yeshi and his team from Phuentsholing General Hospital and practical demonstration on use of fire extinguisher.
Students shared that the training not only strengthened their understanding of safe electrical practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), but also gave them confidence to respond in emergencies through life-saving techniques. The initiative marks an important step toward nurturing safety-conscious engineering professionals prepared for real-world challenges.
The Department sincerely acknowledges all the resource persons and facilitators, particularly Dr. Sonam Yeshi and his team from Phuentsholing General Hospital, for their valuable contributions in making the training impactful and meaningful for the students.
