The Election Commission of Bhutan conducted a Civic Education Programme in Paro College of Education for first- and second-year trainees.
This initiative aims to enhance civic awareness and promote informed participation in democratic processes.
The programme wasn't just about the mechanics of an election; it was about "Democratic Culture."
That is Understanding why your vote matters, not just how to cast it.
Beyond the right to vote, it covers the responsibility to stay informed about national issues and hold leaders accountable.

On March 12, World Kidney Day was observed annually to raise global awareness for renal health. To mark the occasion, the Bhutan Kidney Foundation (BKF) conducted a session at Paro College of Education under the theme, "Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet.
During the event, the BKF founder and core staff shared poignant insights into the systemic impact of kidney failure on the family unit. They highlighted that while hypertension and diabetes remain the two primary causes of renal failure, the disease is particularly dangerous because it is often asymptomatic. Symptoms typically manifest only after 80% to 90% of kidney function is lost, at which point recovery is impossible and dialysis becomes the only means of survival
The session underscored a heartbreaking social reality: the displacement of families due to treatment often leads to a guidance vacuum for children. In rural areas, many students are forced to withdraw from school as they can no longer afford basic necessities or maintain their studies while the family’s resources are diverted toward life-sustaining care.
