BREAKING: Prime Minister Philip Davis has announced that the 2026 General Election will be held on Tuesday, May 12.

Davis said he will advise the Governor General to dissolve Parliament on Wednesday, April 8, with Writs of Election to be issued on April 9.

He also reminded Bahamians that those with a valid voter’s card remain eligible to vote, while first-time voters and those needing transfers must act quickly.

Under the law, the voters register closes at the end of April 8, marking the deadline to register, transfer or verify voter information.
