Photography Idea Card #10 - Leaf
I decided I was going to take my own challenge as seriously as possible so instead of using my phone, I took out my Nikon Z6ii and a lens I rarely use. My Vitrox 85mm f1.8 to shoot some leaves in my yard.
I must admit, it was a bit more challenging than I initially thought. For one, shooting at such a wide aperture with a small subject that's shaking in the wind, is tricky! So getting it to focus on the exact leaf I wanted took more than the 2 seconds you'd expect. The most challenging was the tiny leaf on the vine. But it was worth it.
My favorite of these shots is the last one where you can truly take appreciation for the shallow depth of field and the natural shadows created by the leaf being beneath the other leaves. It gives a vibe of "secret beauty" that I wanted to bring to the image. Sure it would have been easier to just shoot the leaves on top... but where's the fun in that?

Btw... does that aloe plant count as a leaf? It does right?
