Red | Velvet | Cupcakes Ingredients • 150g plain flour • 1 tbsp cocoa powder • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda • 50g softened butter • 150g caster sugar • 1 large egg , beaten • 1 tsp vanilla paste • 100ml buttermilk • 50ml vegetable oil • 1 tsp white vinegar • 1 tbsp red gel food colouring Step 1 Using a stand mixer beat together the butter & sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in the egg, vanilla, buttermilk, oil and vinegar until combined. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dried. Once combined, mix in the red food colouring. Step 2 Bake for 15-18 mins in a preheated oven (160 fan). Inserted a toothpick into the centre of a cupcake until it comes out clean. Step 3. Leave to cool completely on a wire rack.
