Scorpions are arachnids related to spiders, mites and ticks. Out of the 1,500 known species, only 25 of them can kill humans with their venom, but the rest have neurotoxins that can cause convulsions and shortness of breath.

They are very common in the Middle East due to the dry climate. The Androctonus australis (pictured) in particular is quite aggressive and it's venom is especially deadly to the children and elderly.
