Rewilding Rhodopes

🦅 Два месеца след излюпването си, малките черни лешояди в Източните Родопи растат успешно и се развиват нормално.

Те са част от историческо събитие – първото успешно размножаване на черния лешояд в българската част на Източните Родопи от повече от 30 години. Въпреки че природата не пощади едно от трите малки, двете оцелели лешоядчета са важна стъпка към възстановяването на този изключително рядък вид у нас.

Съвсем скоро те ще бъдат маркирани с GPS предаватели. Това ще ни позволи да проследим първите им полети, движението им в природата и предизвикателствата, пред които ще се изправят.

Дейностите по реинтродукция на вида се осъществяват в рамките на LIFE проект „Завръщането на черните лешояди в Родопите“, който се координира от Българско дружество за защита на птиците BirdLife Bulgaria, а партньор в България е Фондация „По-диви Родопи“ (Rewilding Rhodopes). Проектът (№ 101148254 — LIFE23-NAT-BG-LIFE Rhodope Vulture) е съфинансиран от програма LIFE (LIFE Programme) на Европейския съюз и Rewilding Europe.

🦅 Two months after hatching, the young Cinereous vultures in the Eastern Rhodopes are growing well and developing normally.

They are part of a historic achievement – the first successful breeding of the black vulture in the Bulgarian part of the Eastern Rhodopes in more than 30 years. Although nature did not spare one of the three chicks, the two survivors represent an important step in the recovery of this extremely rare species in Bulgaria.

In the coming weeks, the chicks will be fitted with GPS transmitters. This will allow us to track their first flights, monitor their movements in the wild, and learn more about the challenges they may face.

The species reintroduction activities are being carried out within the framework of the LIFE project “The Return of the Black Vultures to the Rhodopes”, coordinated by the Българско дружество за защита на птиците BirdLife Bulgaria, with Rewilding Rhodopes Foundation as the project partner in Bulgaria. The project (No. 101148254 — LIFE23-NAT-BG-LIFE Rhodope Vulture) is co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme and Rewilding Europe.
