LOT 27 – VEILING WOENSDAG 6 MEI, 14u

Een uitzonderlijk museumstuk: een laat 19e-eeuwse ‘navette’ in keizerlijk Egyptisch porfier, 66 cm breed, geplaatst op een sokkel in groen en zwart marmer (totale hoogte 79 cm).
Provenance: collectie van het voormalige prinselijke geslacht Ducas Comnenus.
Porfier is een extreem harde en risicovolle steensoort om te bewerken, waardoor zulke verfijnde en grote navettevormen zeldzaam zijn. Volgens ons onderzoek betreft dit de grootste gekende navette in keizerlijk Egyptisch porfier, zowel in publieke als private collecties.
