Aramon to Aigues Mortes

We did it! We arrived back into Aigues Mortes just before 3pm. Absolutely delighted.

We were a bit exposed to the river last night and we were wakened early from the wash of a passing ship. Excited at the prospect of getting to Aigues Mortes we decided to get up and get going. We set off at 7.15am - earliest start on this journey.

The journey was smooth and relatively straightforward. We left the Rhône and joined the Petite Rhône for approximately 20kms. There are many hidden structures under that stretch so we are always relieved to leave it undamaged. We were looking at the Tower of Constance in Aigues Mortes from about 12km distance.

We have a berth still to organise and are in discussions with the Capitaniere about places, hoping to finalise this week.

For now, we are resting and taking it easy back in our villa. Cheers 🥂

Viviers to Aramon

Distance - 80 km

Travel time - 8 hrs
POI - Avignon

Today we travelled our furthest distance so far. We flew down the river and experienced slight delays at each lock waiting on other boats passing through.

We bypassed some nice places Saint Étienne-des-Sorts (for the wine) and Avignon (for the culture). We love Avignon and would highly recommend a visit, especially in July which is the festival month similar to the Edinburgh festival.

We are now 73km north of Aigues Mortes and we hope to cover that distance and two locks tomorrow to reach our final destination. I'm not sure that we will sleep tonight!

Aramon is a quite stop on the Rhône. There is not much about other than respite and we plan to leave early tomorrow morning.
