Introducing the artists and works within the ongoing cinema program Post-Sunsets: Shumon Basar and Y7 with work ‘Core + Lore’ (2023).  

Core+Lore is a film collaboration between writer and curator, Shumon Basar, and the audiovisual production and theory duo, Y7 (Hannah Cobb and Declan Colquitt). Commissioned by Zora Zine as the third instalment of Basar’s Lorecore series, the film—produced at the moment where text-to-video Generative AI was rolling out to the consumer market—tells the story of a Love Island scenario at the end of the world. The protagonists, Core + Lore, are navigating the dawn of prompting, the pursuit of love, and an apocalyptic solar endcore event simultaneously.
