Unit-1: At the Library

1.1 Look at the pictures. In pairs, ask and answer the following questions.

a) Have you ever gone to a library? (তুমি কি কখনো একটি লাইব্রেরিতে গিয়েছ?)
Ans. Yes, I have gone to a library. (হ্যাঁ, আমি একটি লাইব্রেরিতে গিয়েছি।)

b) What do you do in the library? (লাইব্রেরিতে তুমি কী করো?)
Ans. In the library, I read books and borrow the ones I like. (লাইব্রেরিতে আমি বই পড়ি এবং পছন্দের বইগুলো ধার করি।)

c) What kind of books do you like? (তুমি কেমন ধরনের বই পছন্দ কর?)
Ans. I like storybooks because they are interesting and enjoyable. (আমি গল্পের বই পছন্দ করি, কারণ সেগুলো মজার এবং উপভোগ্য।)

1.2 Read and act out.

Rina and Omar are in the public library. They have come to the library to read books. Today, they have seen a new girl in the library. She is looking for some books on the bookshelves. On their way back home, they become introduced and have a conversation. (রিনা এবং ওমর পাবলিক লাইব্রেরিতে আছে। তারা বই পড়ার জন্য লাইব্রেরিতে এসেছে। আজ তারা লাইব্রেরিতে এক নতুন মেয়েকে দেখেছে। সে বুকশেলফে কিছু বই খুঁজছে। বাড়ি ফেরার পথে তাদের তার সঙ্গে পরিচয় হয় এবং তারা কথা বলে।)

Rina:Hello! My name is Rina. Are you new here? (হ্যালো! আমার নাম রিনা। তুমি কি এখানে নতুন?)

Rupa:Hi! I'm Rupa. My family has just moved to this neighbourhood. (হাই! আমি রূপা। আমার পরিবার সবে এই এলাকায় এসেছে।)

Omar:Hi Rupa! I'm Omar. It seems you like reading books. (হাই রূপা! আমি ওমর। মনে হয় তুমি বই পড়তে ভালোবাসো।)

Rupa:Yes, I love reading books. (হ্যাঁ, আমি বই পড়তে খুব ভালোবাসি।)

Rina: What kind of books do you like to read? (তুমি কেমন ধরনের বই পড়তে ভালোবাসো?)

I love to read storybooks. What about you, Omar? (আমি গল্পের বই পড়তে ভালোবাসি। তোমার কী পছন্দ, ওমর?) Rupa:

Omar:I enjoy reading biographies of famous people. (আমি বিখ্যাত ব্যক্তিদের জীবনী পড়তে পছন্দ করি।)

Rupa:That sounds wonderful! Would you like to share your choice, Rina? (দারুণ শোনাচ্ছে। রিনা, তুমিও কি তোমার পছন্দ বলবে?)

Rina:Sure! I find science fiction very interesting. (অবশ্যই! আমি সায়েন্স ফিকশন খুবই আকর্ষণীয় মনে করি।)

Rupa:Yes, I'm also fond of reading science fiction. (হ্যাঁ, আমিও সায়েন্স ফিকশন পড়তে পছন্দ করি।)

Rina:Have you borrowed any books today? (তুমি কি আজ কোনো বই নিয়েছ?)
