She stared at him with her thoughts spiralling into a tornado of negativity. This was the moment, something she prepared for all these months but it didn’t hurt any less. She prepared herself, cried herself to sleep, gave herself pep-talk. It was going to end, she knew. It always did, she knew. But, no matter how much you prepare for the worst, your heart still sinks every time he says it.
“I am sorry,” he apologised. She knew he was being genuine but she didn’t know how to not have her heart broken. How could this make sense anyways? How do you not hear your heart break when this person who means the world to you decides that it’s not worth the effort anymore?
“I just wished,” she paused, overthinking yet again. At this point, could this be oversharing and over bearing for him? How could she still think about his heart while hers tear apart?
“You gave me a chance,” she sighed. Maybe this is how it feels. Finally, the lyrics of her favourite song makes sense.
~ Only if you knew how much I like you but I watch your eyes as she walks by ~
“To show you what I felt,” her voice was defeated. Her heart crunching up into a ball. Her heart embarrassed to go through the same cycle again.
He looked at her, his lips in a tight line. She knew that yet again, he had nothing to say. Somehow every time, nobody had anything left to say.
How do you unfeel everything? How do you rewind?
