What if an abandoned jute mill could become a place for people, culture, nature, and new possibilities once again? 🌿

That vision has now earned global recognition for BRAC University architecture graduate Fatiha Tanjim Oni. Her thesis project, “Beyond Rediscovery: Reclaiming Alijan Jute Mill as a Living Productive Landscape,” received the WA Award Cycle 53 from the World Architecture Community.

The project reimagines the historic Alijan Jute Mill in Narsingdi as a worker-centered, river-resilient, and culturally vibrant space — where heritage, housing, production, and public life coexist. Instead of preserving the past as a memory alone, the project brings it back to life for communities and future generations.
