UK Student Visa Update 🇬🇧

A major shift in the UK's student visa landscape: for the first time in over 20 years, more study visa applications were withdrawn than refused during the first quarter of 2026.

According to sector reports, many applicants withdrew due to visa processing delays, missed university intake deadlines, or because universities withdrew their Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) before a decision was made. This also reflects the impact of stricter immigration policies and a decline in international student applications.

A lower refusal rate doesn't necessarily mean more students are getting visas. This means an increasing number are leaving the process before a decision is reached.
