Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC), with its rich academic heritage and expansive historic campus, has long fostered a unique educational culture defined by Characterized by its linear and sprawling academic blocks, shaded courts, and tradition of vibrant academic life full of entertainment & physical activitiesโthis compound offers more than a physical setting; it represents a philosophy of learning that is deeply embedded in the daily practices and cultural fabric of its long nurtured legacy.
The design approach for the new ten-storied Academic Building begins with a careful reading of this legacy.
๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ of its students formed the foundation of the proposal. During the design process, attention was given to the energy of the considered age-groupโfrom junior to secondary schoolโwhen their curiosity expands, their confidence develops, and their sense of self begins to form.
With this foundation, the project focuses on Insights from former DRMC students enriched the process, helping identify needs and introduce features that were previously unaddressed yet necessary for an enriched student experience. The design adds a contemporary layer to the campus while respecting its established character, using courtyards, terraces, and interconnected platforms to extend the institutionโs tradition of openness and community. This integrated approach reinforces DRMCโs long-standing educational philosophy while offering a future-ready architectural framework shaped by ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐

FORM.3 architects' installation at Parallels - A group exhibition by 8 architectural practices
MEMORY LOOP
is an immersive installation that explores the invisible continuity of time, memory, and space, drawing its conceptual and representational language from the project Conservation and Redevelopment of Old Dhaka Central Jail. The site bears witness to the earliest settlement of Dhaka city, subsequently serving as an Afghan and Mughal fort, and later functioning as a prison during the colonial period, from 1788 to 2016. This extended historical continuum and its accumulated collective memory are reflected within the installation through the coexistence of old and new elements, where fragments across time intersect to evoke continuity and timelessness. Emphasizing craftsmanship, materiality, and the deep-rooted ethnicity of place, cultural memory is embedded as an active presence rather than applied ornamentation. Materially, this narrative is grounded through the use of reclaimed bricks drawn from multiple timelinesโ300-year-old bricks salvaged from demolished residence near the Lalbagh Fort, alongside 100-year-old bricks collected from historic home in Narindaโallowing time itself to be physically embedded within the installation. The installation reveals how past moments persist beyond their physical existence, resonating as subtle reverberations within human experience, and invites the viewer to engage with a spatial field where history, culture, and emotion remain in continuous dialogue. Thus, the practice stands as a continuumโdistilling inspiration from the past, asserting strength in the present, and beyond.
