Babuland – A World of Joy for Children

Today, my grandchildren are enjoying their time at Babuland Children’s Playground, Uttara.
Seeing them play freely reminds me of a very important truth—

Children don’t need screens,
They need space, laughter, movement, and imagination.

Places like Babuland are not just playgrounds,
They are spaces where creativity grows,
Friendships are built,
And healthy minds are developed.

If we truly want to protect our children from mobile addiction,
We must give them better alternatives like this.

Let them run, climb, laugh, and explore—
Because childhood should be full of life, not screens.

বাবুল্যান্ড – শিশুদের আনন্দের জগৎ

আজ আমার নাতি-নাতনিরা উত্তরার বাবুল্যান্ড চিলড্রেনস প্লেগ্রাউন্ডে খেলছে।
তাদের আনন্দ দেখে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় আবার মনে হলো—

শিশুদের মোবাইল নয়,
প্রয়োজন খেলার মাঠ, হাসি, দৌড়ঝাঁপ আর কল্পনার জগৎ।

বাবুল্যান্ডের মতো জায়গাগুলো শুধু খেলার স্থান নয়,
এগুলো হলো—
সৃজনশীলতা বিকাশের কেন্দ্র,
বন্ধুত্ব গড়ে তোলার জায়গা,
এবং সুস্থ মানসিকতার ভিত্তি।

আমরা যদি সত্যিই শিশুদের মোবাইল আসক্তি থেকে বাঁচাতে চাই,
তাহলে এমন সুন্দর বিকল্প তৈরি করতে হবে।

শিশুদের খেলতে দিন, দৌড়াতে দিন,
কারণ শৈশব স্ক্রিনে নয়—
শৈশব হওয়া উচিত প্রাণবন্ত ও আনন্দময়।

ভুল শিক্ষার পথে হারিয়ে যাচ্ছে মেধা

আমাদের সমাজের সবচেয়ে বড় ট্র্যাজেডি মেধার অভাব নয়, বরং মেধার ভুল ব্যবহার। আমাদের অনেক মেধাবী ও প্রতিভাবান সন্তান কখনোই নিজের প্রকৃত লক্ষ্য খুঁজে পাওয়ার সুযোগ পায় না। পরিবার, সমাজ এবং প্রচলিত চিন্তাধারার চাপে তাদের ঠেলে দেওয়া হয় ডাক্তার, ইঞ্জিনিয়ার বা কিছু নির্দিষ্ট পেশার দিকে—তাদের নিজের যোগ্যতা, আগ্রহ বা স্বপ্নকে উপেক্ষা করে।

কিন্তু একটি দেশ শুধু ডাক্তার বা ইঞ্জিনিয়ার দিয়ে এগিয়ে যায় না। একটি দেশের জন্য প্রয়োজন দূরদর্শী নেতা, সৎ নীতিনির্ধারক, সমাজ সংস্কারক, অর্থনীতিবিদ, চিন্তাবিদ—যারা সমাজকে বুঝবে, দিকনির্দেশনা দেবে এবং ভবিষ্যৎ গড়বে। দুঃখজনকভাবে, ছোটবেলা থেকে এসব ভূমিকার জন্য কাউকে প্রস্তুত করা হয় না।

ফলে, অনেক সম্ভাব্য নেতা জন্ম নেওয়ার আগেই হারিয়ে যায়। যে শিশুটি একজন মহান রাষ্ট্রনায়ক হতে পারত, তাকে বাধ্য করা হয় মুখস্থ বিদ্যার দৌড়ে অংশ নিতে। যে জন্মগতভাবে কৌশলী ও চিন্তাশীল, সে সমাজ বোঝার বদলে নম্বরের পিছনে ছুটতে থাকে। সৃজনশীলতা দমিয়ে রাখা হয়, কৌতূহলকে নিরুৎসাহিত করা হয়, আর স্বাধীন চিন্তাকে অনেক সময় বাধা দেওয়া হয়।

এর চেয়েও ভয়ঙ্কর বিষয় হলো—আমাদের শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থা নিজেই শিক্ষার্থীদের শেখায় না কীভাবে দেশ চালাতে হয়, কীভাবে দায়িত্ব নিতে হয়, কীভাবে নেতৃত্ব দিতে হয়। এটি দক্ষ কর্মী তৈরি করে, কিন্তু দায়িত্বশীল নেতা তৈরি করে না। আর যখন দেশের নেতৃত্বের প্রশ্ন আসে, তখন আমরা দেখি—যোগ্য, সৎ ও দূরদর্শী মানুষের অভাব।

যদি আমরা সত্যিই একটি উন্নত সমাজ চাই, তাহলে আমাদের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি পরিবর্তন করতে হবে। প্রতিটি শিশুর স্বকীয়তাকে সম্মান করতে হবে। শিক্ষা হবে না জোর করে একই ছাঁচে ঢালার প্রক্রিয়া, বরং হবে প্রতিভা খুঁজে বের করার, নেতৃত্ব গড়ে তোলার এবং জাতির ভবিষ্যৎ নির্মাণের একটি শক্তিশালী মাধ্যম।

কারণ, যখন সেরা মেধাগুলোকে নেতৃত্বের জন্য প্রস্তুত করা হয় না, তখন নেতৃত্ব চলে যায় অযোগ্যদের হাতে।

Misguided Education: When Talent Is Forced, Not Guided

In our society, one of the greatest tragedies is not the lack of talent, but the misdirection of it. Many of our most talented and intelligent children are never allowed to discover their true purpose. Instead, they are pushed—often by parents and social pressure—into predefined paths like engineering, medicine, or conventional careers, regardless of their natural abilities or passions.

But a nation does not progress only with doctors and engineers. A country also needs visionary leaders, ethical policymakers, social reformers, economists, philosophers, and thinkers—people who understand how to guide society, manage systems, and shape the future. Unfortunately, these roles are rarely encouraged from childhood.

As a result, many potential leaders are lost before they even begin. A child who could have become a great statesman is forced into memorizing textbooks. A born strategist ends up chasing grades instead of understanding society. Creativity is suppressed, curiosity is ignored, and independent thinking is often discouraged.

Even worse, the education system itself does not teach students how to think about governance, responsibility, or leadership. It produces skilled workers, but not responsible decision-makers. And when the time comes to lead the country, we often find a shortage of truly capable, ethical, and visionary individuals.

If we want a better society, we must start by respecting the individuality of each child. Education should not be about forcing everyone into the same mold. It should be about discovering strengths, nurturing leadership, and preparing some of the brightest minds to take responsibility for the nation.

Because if the best minds are never trained to lead, then leadership will be left in the hands of those who are not the best.
