ðĶī Follow-up Outcome of Tibial Plateau Fracture (Post-Operative â 2 Months)
A case of tibial plateau fracture (Schatzker Type II tibial plateau fracture â lateral split with depression) managed surgically with open reduction and internal fixation.
ð§ Operative Details:
âĒ Approach: Standard anterolateral approach to proximal tibia
âĒ Implant: Proximal tibial locking compression plate (LCP) with rafting screws to support articular surface
âĒ Reduction: Elevation of depressed fragment with restoration of joint congruity
âĒ Bone grafting: Subchondral void filled with bone graft (where indicated)
ð
2-Month Follow-up Findings:
â
Surgical wound healed well
â
No evidence of infection or implant-related complication
â
Radiographs show maintained reduction and alignment
â
Progressive callus formation noted
â
Knee range of motion improving with physiotherapy
â
Patient mobilizing with partial weight bearing support
ð Discussion:
Early surgical stabilization using a locking plate system ensures articular congruity, axial alignment, and early mobilization, which are critical for preventing long-term complications like post-traumatic osteoarthritis.
Patient is on track for gradual return to full weight bearing as per clinical and radiological progression.

Case Highlight ðĶī
A 45-year-old female presented with a non-union fracture of the shaft of the humerus with implant in situ following previous surgery.
The case was managed using an Ilizarov external fixator, providing stable fixation and biological stimulation to promote fracture union.
The patient is currently on regular follow-up, with close monitoring of radiological healing and functional recovery.
