Epstein Files: What's in these documents, why is it a storm of discussion all over the world?
***
In late January 2026, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) released one of the largest documents in history, which has become known as the "Epstein Files". More than three million pages of documents, along with thousands of photos and videos. In all, this release is not just a document of a case, but a huge document of power, money and state failure.
* Who was Epstein?
Jeffrey Epstein was a billionaire financier who was accused of sexually abusing and trafficking underage girls. He was arrested in the United States in 2019 and committed su***de while in prison. But even after his death, the question remains - how did such a large criminal organization remain hidden for so long?
The Epstein Files have become important in finding answers to this question.
* What's in these files?
These documents are basically two decades of investigative materials held by the US government. It contains—
- Email and communication records of Epstein and his associates
- Investigation notes of the FBI and prosecutors
- Court documents and draft indictments
- Flight logs
- Information on various social events and personal meetings
- About 2,000 videos and 180,000 photos
The names of many political leaders, businessmen, billionaires, and cultural figures from around the world have appeared in these files.
* Why are the names of Trump, Modi, and Prince Andrew in the discussion?
Donald Trump's name appears many times in these files—mainly in emails, news shares, or third-party comments. The US Department of Justice has clarified that most of these are unverified tips or rumors, not evidence of any new crimes.
It has been reported that the name of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also appeared in the context of an email. However, the Indian government has rejected this as completely baseless and irrelevant.
The name of the mother of New York politician Zohrab Mamdani also appears on the guest list of a social event—in this case too, there is no question of any accusation or crime.
