Biochemistry Notes in Brief
Random Blood Sugar:
We test Random Blood Sugar (RBS) primarily because it provides an immediate snapshot of the glucose circulating in our blood at any time of day, regardless of when we last ate. It requires no preparation, making it a powerful tool for quick screenings and emergency evaluations.
It is used in emergencies to identify dangerously high (hyperglycemia) or low (hypoglycemia) blood sugar levels.
Interpretation of Results:
Below 140 mg/dl Generally considered Normal for most healthy adults.
140 – 199May indicate Prediabetes, suggesting your body is struggling to manage glucose efficiently.
200 or Higher Strongly suggests Diabetes, especially when accompanied by symptoms.
Could you estimate the glucose concentration?
What steps should be taken if blood sugar levels elevate suddenly?
