Although it’s not a term included in the Fair Work Act, many employees are placed on probation periods when they start a new job. Don’t worry, this period doesn’t affect your minimum pay and entitlements and will count towards your overall length of service.

During your probation period you:
✅ get at least the minimum pay rate for your role
✅ accrue paid leave (if you’re full or part-time)
✅ can take sick leave
✅ are usually entitled to notice of termination.
