Free Webinar: Understanding Queensland's new Child Safe Organisations law

The ECCQ - Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland, in partnership with the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC), Multicultural Australia, SSI - Settlement Services International, Pacific Islands Council of QLD Inc. (PICQ), Multicultural Affairs Queensland and Community Leaders Gathering, invites community leaders, organisations and service providers to learn about Queensland's new child safeguarding laws.

From October 2025, Queensland's new Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 introduced important responsibilities for organisations that work with children and young people. This includes many organisations across the multicultural, community, faith-based, disability, education, sport, recreation and youth sectors. On 1 July a new Reportable Conduct Scheme will start.

This is all about looking after the safety and wellbeing of our children and young people and protecting them from harm.

This free webinar will provide an introduction to:
• Who the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC) is and its role in promoting child safeguarding
• Queensland's new Child Safe Organisations Act 2024
• What organisations need to do to become child safe and prevent harm to children
• The Child Safe Standards and how they apply in practice
• The new Reportable Conduct Scheme and requirements
• Resources and support available to help organisations meet their obligations

This session is designed for leaders, staff, volunteers, board members and community representatives from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities across Queensland. Whether your organisation is large or small, this webinar will help you understand what the new laws mean and how to create safer environments for children and young people.

Date: Tuesday 14 July 2026
Time: 6:15pm registration and log-in | 6:30pm start | 7:45pm finish
