Today marks 15 years since the floods. Seeing old photos and thinking back on the amount of water that went through the shop is still hard to wrap your head around. What stands out most is how quickly friends, neighbours and the local community stepped in to help with the clean-up once the water went down. The months that followed were a challenging time for my parents, rebuilding the shop while continuing to operate out of the installation bay just to keep the business afloat. Now, looking at the street today, it’s strange to realise we’re the only business left on our block that lived through that event. It’s a powerful reminder of resilience, community, and how much time has passed!
