Choosing an implant size isn’t just about preference, it’s a clinical decision guided by your unique anatomy. One important factor your surgeon assesses during consultation is breast tissue density.
What is breast tissue density?
It refers to the balance between glandular (firm) tissue and fatty (softer) tissue in the breast. This plays a key role in how much natural coverage there is over an implant.
Why does it matter in planning?
◾ Implant size & profile - Selected based on how much tissue is available to support and cover the implant
◽ Implant placement - May vary (above or below the muscle) depending on your anatomy
◾ Symmetry - Differences in tissue between each breast are carefully assessed to guide decisions
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, every recommendation is made following a detailed consultation and physical assessment.
