A little business reality that probably doesn’t get talked about enough shipping

This week’s postal run cost me $189.49 through Australia Post the shipping fees collected through my website totalled $135 which means I personally covered the remaining $54.49

When you pay a shipping fee on a small business website it’s easy to assume that money goes to the business In reality for many of us it simply helps cover the cost of getting your order to your door and often doesn’t even cover it completely

That shipping fee doesn’t include boxes, packaging labels tape protective wrapping fuel to the post office or the time spent packing every order

I’m not sharing this to complain I absolutely love offering Australia wide postage and I’m so grateful for every order I just thought it was an interesting behind the scenes insight into the true cost of getting your goodies delivered safely
