Walter Taylor Bridge weekend closures continue this weekend

Posted 5 June 2026 0900 am - for updates as they are released follow Switch Brisbane

From 9pm Friday 5 June 2026, the Walter Taylor Bridge at Indooroopilly and Chelmer will close to carry out the next stage of essential node renewal works.

Works progressed well over previous weekends, allowing the bridge to reopen early.

This weekend’s closure is planned to remain in place until 5am Sunday 7 June. However, if works finish sooner, the bridge will reopen earlier.

The exact timing will depend on weather and construction progress.

We will always reopen the bridge as soon as it is safe to do so to reduce impacts on the community.

When the bridge reopens, we will notify the community as quickly as possible through email and SMS updates, onsite and fixed overhead variable message signs, and social media.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicles during this time. Please plan an alternative route and allow extra travel time.

A section of Wharf Street, between Rosebery Terrace and Regatta Street, and Radnor Street, between Foxton Street and Riverview Terrace, will also be closed during this time.

Public transport will also be affected, with passengers on bus routes 105, 106, 127, 598 and 599 needing to transfer via train to cross the river.

The Walter Taylor Bridge footpath is closed for scaffold placement and will remain closed until the scaffold is removed. Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use Jack Pesch Bridge during this time.

Traffic control and onsite signage will be in place to assist pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and public transport users during the closure.
