Every Australian learner driver discovers the same terrifying truth within about three minutes of getting on the road: the second those yellow L plates go up, the entire country suddenly starts driving like it’s the final lap of Bathurst.

Doesn’t matter if the learner is already doing the speed limit. Australians physically cannot resist overtaking them.

Tradies in Rangers appear out of nowhere. Camrys start tailgating. Someone in a Hilux inevitably tries squeezing past in a lane that technically doesn’t exist.

It’s like the yellow L triggers some ancient survival instinct buried deep inside the Australian brain. 😂😂😂😂
