I had a discussion with a couple of my lovely class participants today and they admitted after a class they can feel their joints become less stiff and not as tight.

Sitting for long periods of time makes your legs and glutes weak. The glutes, leg muscles (hamstrings, inner thighs and quads) get affected when you are sitting for long.
Sitting for too long can cause pain in the hip. Lunges, fire hydrants, and squats are great and help to prevent hip pain.
Sitting can also lower your core strength and posture.
Most people tend to lean forward while working on the computer or cradle their phone to the ear. This can cause strain to your neck (cervical vertebrae if we want to get technical) resulting in permanent imbalances, which will lead you to experience neck strain, sore shoulders and back pain.
Sitting can cause stiffness in the neck and shoulders. Exercises like rows, dumbbell shrugs, push-ups, and high planks strengthen and prevent muscle strain and soreness.
