Celebrated annually on August 30, it marks the anniversary of the first European settlement in 1835 – the founding of Melbourne.
𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 is also a time to celebrate and support our city's indigenous culture and heritage, and also to remember the impact of European arrival on the people of the Kulin nation: the Wurundjeri (Woiwurrung), Boon Wurrung, Taungurong, Djajawurrung and the Wathaurung.
