BERRINGA PARK NEWSLETTER- MAY 2026
WINNER, 2026 CITIZEN OF THE YEAR.

NEXT WORKING DAY IS THIS SUNDAY 15 MAY 2026
The Berringa Park Friends Group's next work day will be held this Sunday, 15 May, 2026, from 8.30am to 10.00am. Please meet at the steps at Milmoe Lane for a short update meeting from the Team Leader. Come along and bring the family and friends and join in a worthwhile community activity. Enjoy a cuppa and cake after the workday. Please advise by return email if you have any enquiries.(PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF CHANGE OF STARTING TIME.)

BERRINGA PARK FRIENDS GROUP, PAST AND PRESENT REUNION GET TOGETHER
The Berringa Park Friends will be holding a Reunion Get Together for past and present volunteers and their families. All are invited including potential new members. It will be held at the HANGA, at the Maylands Golf Club on Sunday, 7 June, 2026 from 5.30pm. A full menu will be available from snacks through to main meals. Feel welcome to drop in even for a drink and catch up with the volunteers. Any enquiries and RSVP to this email address.

We had a small but enthusiastic group of volunteers this morning. We trimmed overhanging vegetation along the pathway from Milmoe Lane to East St to improve the safety for cyclists and walkers.

Berringa Park Friends Group were awarded
2026 Community Citizen of the Year Award by the City of Bayswater.

We were also presented a grant for $13,500 by Swan Alcoa Landcare Program (SALP) for the ongoing restoration works in The Berringa Park Wetlands.

Next work day is on Sunday 19th April which is the third Sunday of the month,

The Berringa Park Friends Group this evening was awarded Citizen Of The Year, active citizen category at the City of Bayswater Australia Day Citizenship ceremony.
It is a credit to all the volunteers who
have worked on restoring Berringa Park back to its natural glory.

GRANT FROM SWAN ALCOA LANDCARE PROGRAM (SALP)
We have once again received a grant from SALP who have been instrumental in assisting the Berringa Park Friends Group by way of grants to continue our very important work of ridding the riverbanks and wetlands in Berringa Park of non-endemic vegetation so as to allow us to re-vegetate these areas with infill. Berringa Park Wetlands covers an area of approximately 14 hectares with about 1 km of riverbank. The grant will be presented to us on Tuesday 17th February at Frasers Restaurant. We have again applied for another grant from SALP for 2027 to complete the clearing and re-vegetation at the end of the path near East St. (Zone 10a)

BERRINGA PARK FRIENDS GROUP NOMINATED FOR "2026 CITIZEN OF THE YEAR - FINALIST
The Berringa Park Friends Group has been been nominated for "2026 Citizen Of The Year- Finalist" in category of Active Citizenship. The presentation ceremonies will be held on Wednesday 28th January at the City of Bayswater Civic Centre.

RESIGNATION OF MATTHEW MOORE, OUR COORDINATOR
Unfortunately Matthew Moore, Coordinator Natural Area Management, has resigned and will be leaving this position at the end of January. Matthew has a very professional approach to his position and has been very easy to work with. We wish Matthew every success in his new position.
