From around 8 years old, kids can start brushing and flossing on their own — but they still need your support and regular dental visits to keep those smiles healthy.

Throwback to 2021 – when my own girls came in for their dental check-ups at Butler Dental 🦷💜
That’s my youngest, Miss N, in the chair. She’s always been a very anxious patient — and that’s okay. Some kids just are. It’s not about doing anything wrong, it’s just how they’re wired.
We started her dental visits early — her first check-up was at 12 months. From the start, it was never about treatment. Just sitting in the chair, counting teeth, and making sure everything was healthy.
These early exposures have made such a difference. She still doesn’t love the noises, but she knows what to expect now. We’ve built trust over time — gently and consistently.
As both a mum and a dentist, I know how hard it can be with anxious little ones — but early, positive dental experiences really do set them up for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

🦷💛 Let’s help kids reach every smilestone!
That first tiny tooth is a BIG deal!
From first tooth to 18 months, it’s time to:
✅ Brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush
✅ Book their first dental visit
We love welcoming little ones to Butler Dental and setting them up for a lifetime of healthy smiles. Early care builds trust and reduces fear — and that starts from the very beginning.

At Butler Dental, we believe healthy habits start from the very beginning. 👶🦷
As part of Dental Health Week (4–10 August 2025), we’re celebrating every little smilestone — from birth to baby’s first tooth.
Did you know? Even before teeth appear, it’s important to clean your baby’s gums with a soft, damp cloth. It’s a small step that builds a lifelong foundation for oral health.
Dr. Parul has a gentle, calm approach that puts both kids and parents at ease. She’s passionate about supporting families in building great dental habits from day one.
If you’re unsure when to bring your child in for their first visit or how to care for baby teeth, we’re here to guide you.
✨ Let’s grow confident, healthy smiles—together.
