Concept plans don’t mean much if you can’t afford to build them.
That’s why I always recommend starting with a ballpark figure from someone who’s built it before, not after the design is done.
It’s not about killing the dream. It’s about making sure the dream is actually buildable.
There’s no right or wrong choice when it comes to who you speak to first – whether it’s an interior designer, drafty, or builder.
What matters most is that whoever you work with takes your budget seriously from the start and designs to it, not past it.

After months on the tools, weeks of late nights, weekends, and more than a few moments of doubt, Lilac House was finally full of people.

The room was filled with connection, support, and genuine excitement for what this home represents.
This wasn’t just a celebration of a finished home.
It was a chance to open the doors and share a project I’ve poured myself into, one that reflects the kind of work I want to keep building.
