When you run your own business, it is incredibly hard to switch your brain off when you get home. You end up sitting on the couch stressing about tomorrow instead of spending time with your family.

What you need is a transition routine:

1️⃣ Stop taking work calls on the drive home.

2️⃣ Put on a podcast (non work relatred) or some music instead.

3️⃣ When you get out of the car, leave your work boots outside.

Did you know that physical acts, like taking off the boots and leaving them outside, signals to your brain that the work day is actually over. Protect your evenings so you can show up the next morning woithout dragging yesterday behind you.

Who is representing your business today?

Using subcontractors is a great way to scale your business and take on bigger jobs. But remember, the client does not care if the guy on site is a direct employee or a subbie.

If your subbie turns up late, leaves a mess, or does a dodgy job, it is your logo that takes the hit.

You need to vet your contractors just as hard as your full time staff.

Set clear expectations before they start, check their work regularly, and pay them on time if you want to keep the good ones around.
