When most animals were slaughtered locally nothing went to waste. Bones, hooves, knuckles, carcasses and tough meat went into the stock pot and filled the house with the aroma of love.
Today we buy individual filets and boneless chicken breasts, or grab fast food on the run and broth has disappeared from our diets.
Traditional broths have been replaced with meat-like flavors made in the laboratory known as MSG which is in all of the bouillon cubes, dehydrated soup mixes, sauce mixes and stock you can buy from your local supermarket.
In 1957, scientists found that mice became blind and obese when MSG was administered by feeding tube.
When homemade broths were pushed out by cheap substitutes, an important source of minerals disappeared from our diets, not to mention the serious health problems posed by MSG being added in.
So why is bone broth so great?
- it contains gelatin which facilitates digestion by attracting digestive juices to food in the gut.
- it contains minerals in a form the body can absorb easily—not just calcium but also magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sulphur and trace minerals.
- it contains the broken down material from cartilage and tendons – stuff like chondroitin sulfates and glucosamine (now sold as expensive supplements for arthritis and joint pain).
- it supports overall digestion, intestinal functioning, and the mucosal lining.
- as well as supporting bone, muscle, ligament, tendon, and skin health.
Plant-based broths are important too. They don’t have the same properties as animal or fish broths, but they contain numerous vitamins and minerals.

Choose consistency over perfection.
We just have to be consistent over a long period of time to see results.
In health.
In business.
In sports.
In new hobbies.
In everything.
There will be periods of time when things aren’t going right, or you just don’t feel up to your best. Take a break, go easy on yourself, but don't give up. It is consistency over a long period of time that counts.
In business, this could not be more true. It is showing up each and every day, being persistent and never throwing in the towel that gets the results. Sure, there are weeks and even months where things aren’t flourishing, but you can't fail until you quit.
So many learnings of running a business can relate to our health goals. Just keep going. 🙌

Accountability is the single most powerful tool for discipline. It is like a cheat code when it comes to sticking to our goals.
The difference between reaching any desired goal and not is consistency. Accountability works to keep us consistent.
One piece of feedback I get from my clients, again and again, is how much they value the accountability and frequent check-ins in their program. Our check-in sessions help to align focus on the right priorities at the right time and stop us from distractions that can otherwise be overwhelming.
In my business, the best decision I ever made was to get coaching. I work with my coach to set goals and the actions I need to take in my business to reach those goals. That support and accountability helped me go from running a part-time business to a full-time business.
We all know what we should be doing, but we don't do it. The missing link is accountability.
Accountability can look like:
✨️ Make it public - declare to family/friends about your goal
✨ ️Make a financial commitment - when you pay, you pay attention
✨️ Set a deadline - not too far into the future
✨️ Book into a class - it is much easier to show up if you have a class in your schedule
