Connecting with Global Leaders in Supportive Cancer Care and Survivorship.

This week, the Solaris Cancer Care team was proud to attend the 2nd National Integrative Oncology and Wellbeing in Supportive Cancer Care Symposium at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, followed by the MASCC 2026 Conference in Melbourne.

The team took the opportunity to visit ONJ and the Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer center.

As Solaris approaches a significant milestone,
25 years of delivering supportive cancer care this September, it was a valuable opportunity to connect with some of the world's leading clinicians, researchers and advocates in supportive cancer care, survivorship and integrative oncology.

These events brought together global minds committed to improving outcomes and quality of life for people affected by cancer. Through learning, collaboration and shared experience, we explored the latest evidence and innovations shaping the future of supportive care.

At Solaris, we know that cancer care must go beyond treatment alone. Supportive care plays a vital role in helping people navigate the emotional, psychological and physical impacts of cancer, from diagnosis through treatment, survivorship and bereavement. The discussions throughout the symposium and conference reinforced the importance of whole-person care, including wellbeing, exercise, nutrition, psychology and community support.

For 25 years, Solaris has stood alongside Western Australians affected by cancer, providing personalised, evidence-based support that complements medical treatment. Connecting with national and international experts who share this vision strengthens our commitment to ensuring no one faces the impact of cancer alone.

We return to Western Australia inspired, energised and excited about the future of supportive cancer care and survivorship, and grateful for the opportunity to bring global knowledge and best practice back to the communities we serve.

25 years of care. 25 years of community. 25 years of supporting people to live well through and beyond cancer.

How delicious does this spread look? 🍰

Our inspirational ambassador Amy Hickman held a High Tea to fundraise for Solaris and we wanted to send a thank you to her and all who attended.

Having experienced the support of Solaris firsthand during her own cancer journey, Amy understands just how important these services can be for people navigating a diagnosis and their treatment. Her generosity in giving back is truly special.

Community fundraising events like these not only raise vital funds, but also help spread awareness of the support available to people affected by cancer across Western Australia.

We've all heard the saying 'from little things, big things grow' - and recently a very special group of young fundraisers reminded us just how true that is.

Eight year old Maya and her friends held a sale to raise money for Solaris. All their own idea and all their own handiwork. The group of wonderful youngsters crafted some beautiful jewellery and set up a stall in their street and invited the community in - which really warmed our hearts.

Their hard work raised $400 for Solaris and we are so humbled and thankful!

Maya and friends - your generosity, compassion and community spirit have truly touched us 💛

'The best decision I made was actually making the effort to come and use the services.'

We hear stories from our community every day about the difference Solaris makes. It is such a powerful reminder of what compassionate, person-centred care can make possible – especially for people facing the hardest moments of their lives.

This tax time we ask you to give generously so we can continue to make a real difference in the lives of peole diagnosed with cancer, all over WA.

Tell us in the comments why Solaris being there has mattered to you or your family 💛 We'd love to hear from you 💛
