“CAN YOUR GUT COPE WITH THE FESTIVE SEASON?”
Christmas and New Year are often referred to as the "silly season".
Silly in may ways and on many levels of your wellbeing. That said it is my most favourite time of year, I thrive in the Christmas festivities and the joy of being with family and friends. For me there is nothing more magical and wonderful than sitting around a beautifully laden table of fine food, listening to stories of what the year has brought to us ,what we have enjoyed and perhaps what wasn't all that we hoped for.
Laughter, sometimes tears, fun and sharing from the most powerful emotion of all and that is love.

For some people this time of year sees other emotions than that of love pour over into some of the lesser enjoyed emotions ending up in arguments or upsets.
You see food is a glorious way to share time and have fun however at this time of year, the tendency to overeat and to perhaps make choices which are not conducive to keeping a balance of harmony and kindness in your heart and mind the joy of the season can be easily tipped to distress , so I have for you here some helpful tips that can make this time of year more enjoyable for you and your families.

At this time of year we are bombarded with endless information on the eating fest of Christmas and the Festive Season. Usually telling you what to eat and what not to eat amidst the endless magazines with recipes for you to enjoy.
The undeniable truth is that the mindless marathon of eating during this period leaves your entire digestive and hormone systems in a huge state of distress and often illness. Many people spend hours awake at night feeling over heated, uncomfortable, indigestion, cramps, and headaches. They wake feeling listless, tired, foggy brain, and drained.
Drs Surgeries are full of post Christmas aliments and many people will spend money on more one visit to the GP.
The marathon of eating places huge stress on your LIVER, SPLEEN, INTESTINES HEART and BRAIN.

Make your Festive celebrations a fabulous time with friends and family, with memories to cherish for another year or more. Make some simple easy changes and take some easy steps to ensure your gut can cope with the celebrations.

A HEALTHY CHRISTMAS FOR YOU AND YOURS
 Allow time between the eating frenzy
 Take smaller portions when you know you will be spending time with more people.
 Make the colour green your favourite on your plate
 Choose seafood rather than heavy animal meat.
 Drink copious amounts of water continuously
 Take an hour to decide on dessert
 Go for a walk or play hide n seek with the kids after the meal
 Choose raw or lightly streamed vegetables rather than baked, fried or mashed
 Less fruit more salad
 Snack on non salted foods
 Make your own dips
 Take a platter of food to suit your health when visiting friends and family
 Move after dinner don’t go from chair to car seat to couch to bed!
