Things new mums are thinking at 2am freshly postpartum that they don't want to say out loud.

But I'll say it for you:

I'm struggling
Why won't you sleep
Damn you're so cute but driving me crazy right now
I just need more sleep
I feel like a crap mum
Why the fck do dads sleep through the noise
Am I ever going to feel human again?!
I don't know if I can do this
Should I just give up and give a bottle
I'll have a million more of you even through this
Okay nothing prepared me for this
Omg you're awake again
If only people helped at this time of night
Please just sleep
Am I overthinking it
Why will you only settle if I hold you
Would you just stop crying
I am failing
Why did no one warn me how hard nights can be
Let's pray I can nap tomorrow

And despite all of this, you get up and keep going each and every day. Proud of you mama.

2 am thoughts

Unhinged rules I have as a family photographer in Perth - last one is a non negotiable.

1. If the toddler runs, I'm running too. I'm not spending the next hour negotiating when all they want is to be in control
2. Dads can leave their grumpy attitude in the car (because truth is they'll actually be laughing in 5 minutes)
3. You need to not overthink it, go with the flow
4. Games are a must! This gets everyone involved, there's kids (and adults) laughing, falling over and actually having a good time
5. Family photos are fine all year round - yes I'll even shoot in winter because it's not a deal breaker
6. I will make silly jokes, and overshare if that means we connect and you laugh.
7. You will leave feeling way more relaxed that you came.
8. We won't be just standing still and saying "cheese"
