Jack – The Sweet Little Spirit Boy of the Stirling Arms

Not every spirit encountered during an investigation is frightening.

One of the most beloved spirits we have encountered at the Stirling Arms is a young boy we believe is named Jack. Over the investigations, he has become a familiar and welcome presence during our visits, and I always look forward to interacting with him.

If you've ever experienced lights flickering, heard unexplained bangs, watched a door handle move on its own, or felt the unmistakable sense that someone small was nearby, there's a good chance Jack may have been making his presence known.

From our interactions with him, we believe Jack was around five or six years old when he passed. He often presents himself wearing worn, torn clothing that appears consistent with an earlier period of Western Australian history.

Interestingly, we don't believe Jack is connected to the Stirling Arms itself. Rather, he seems to be associated with the land surrounding the area. During one particularly fascinating encounter, he showed us a landscape vastly different from what exists today flat bushland stretching into the distance, with no buildings, roads, or development. Based on what he showed us, we believe he may have lived sometime between the 1830s and 1850s.

Through our investigations, we have come to understand that Jack died tragically in a horse and cart accident. Yet despite this, he carries none of the sadness one might expect. Like many happy child spirits, he is playful, curious, energetic, and simply enjoys interacting with people.

If we are investigating in the main hall, Jack often spends his time around the stage. If we are in the hotel itself, he can frequently be found playing on the stairs or sitting quietly in the 1850s Bar. He seems particularly fascinated by anything that lights up and will often interact with illuminated equipment, torches, trigger objects, and even the venue's lights. If you ask nicely and he's in the mood, he may even flicker the lights as a way of saying hello.

We don't believe Jack is trapped or earthbound. In many ways, he feels more like a visitor to our time and place than a resident spirit. We suspect he spends time at the hotel because he enjoys being around people. Children are naturally attracted to activity, laughter, and companionship, and Jack appears no different.

One of the most interesting aspects of Jack is that the other spirits seem aware of him. In fact, many appear protective of the little boy and watch over him. However, there are certain energies and presences that seem to make Jack uncomfortable, and when they are around, he will often retreat and keep his distance.

Over the years, we have become incredibly fond of him. We make a point of bringing toys along for him during investigations, and he never fails to remind us that not every paranormal encounter needs to be dark or frightening.

Jack is also believed to be responsible for many of the playful noises heard throughout the building. He has been captured on voice recordings quietly calling for his "Papa", a moment that never fails to tug at the heartstrings. Those recordings, along with countless personal experiences, have helped make him one of the most memorable spirits we have encountered.

While some investigations leave us pondering mysteries and tragedies, Jack reminds us of something different. He reminds us that sometimes the paranormal can be filled with joy, curiosity, wonder, and even a little mischief.

So next time you visit the Stirling Arms, remember to say hello to our patron spirit, John. And don't forget little Jack.

If he feels like it, you may hear a playful knock, see a light flicker, or perhaps receive a cheerful hello from one of the sweetest little spirits we've ever had the privilege of meeting.

After all, not every ghost story is a sad one.

Sometimes it's simply the story of a little boy who still loves to play.

Whilst the photo may be AI generated my irrational fear of dolls and clowns isn’t.
I learnt that dolls can be vessels to carry the souls of the deceased.
They can have attachments.
They can MOVE!!!
Probably why I tried to destroy my doll in the 2 bar electric heater back when I was a young un, sorry mum and dad.
Tell us your experiences with these creepy objects, pictures most welcome although I may be afraid to look.
Has anyone who follows us had the wonderful experience (NOT!) of visiting Doll island.
Please tell.
In anticipation of tales from beyond Kaz πŸ˜ŠπŸ™
