The person who is appointed or who controls the corporate Trustee of the Family Trust will control the Trust itself. There have been cases where parents appointed one child to be Trustee of a Family Trust and as a result the remaining siblings have become excluded after the appointed child’s partner/spouse has persuaded them to look after their immediate family to the exclusion of the siblings.
