Emotional regulation is the ability to recognise, understand and manage our emotions in a healthy way. It's not about ignoring difficult feelings or always staying positive—it's about responding to emotions in ways that support our wellbeing.
When we struggle to regulate emotions, we may feel overwhelmed, react impulsively or find it difficult to cope with stress. Over time, this can impact our relationships, decision-making and overall mental health.
The good news is that emotional regulation is a skill that can be developed through awareness, practice, and support.
