🎶☕ Meet the Father 🎶
Baritone Brett Peart takes on the role of the formidable father in Bach’s Coffee Cantata in collaboration with West Australian Opera — and he’s bringing both swagger and charm to the stage.
A Perth-born graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Bachelor of Music, Classical Vocal Performance), Brett is a former Wesfarmers Arts Young Artist (2024–2025), and recipient of the prestigious Bendat Scholarship and Roberts Emerging Artist Award.
Described by The West Australian as “full of braggadocio but also beguiling charm” and praised by Seesaw Magazine as “especially successful in getting into his vocal stride,” Brett is a regular and much-loved performer with West Australian Opera.
Get ready for comic flair and a father determined to keep coffee under control… or is he? 😉🎭
Delighted to be presenting the Coffee Cantata and Canary Cantata on Thursday, July 23, 7:30pm His Majesty’s Theatre
Two short comic operas: the award‑winning London production of Bach’s brilliantly caffeinated Coffee Cantata & Telemann’s Canary Cantata, a whimsical lament for a beloved canary.
This multi‑award‑winning London production of The Coffee Cantata reimagines Bach’s ode to caffeine as witty, stylish music theatre performed in English — a playful clash of virtue, vice, and the irresistible pull of the daily cup. Featuring sumptuous costumes by Sydney designer Elizabeth Gadsby and wigs adorned with hand‑beaded coffee cups crafted by Jane Corbett, milliner to Queen Elizabeth II and the Princess of Wales.
The program also includes Telemann’s Canary Cantata, starring West Australian Opera principal Brigitte Heuser — a theatrical drawn miniature in which private grief gives way to operatic indignation, and suspicion falls squarely on the household cat.
