Australian minimum wage increased by 5.75 per cent in Fair Work Commission decision Australia's minimum wage has increased by 5.75 per cent, which is lower than the current rate of inflation of 7 per cent.

With the National Wage Increase looming, it's the perfect time to check your BOOTs. All above Award wages/salaries paid to staff need to be checked at least once a year to ensure they meet the Better Off Overall Test.

Our top three tips for a good BOOT?
1) know your Award inside and out (or get help from someone who does)
2) ensure your employees have been provided with a spelt out list of what is in their Above Award rate/salary amount - are your Letters of Employment keeping up to date?
3) keep all your payroll records, including timesheets, overtime, meal breaks, leave approvals and emails references
