For me I can't go past the natural colours.
For instance this nomad in the coral trout scheme out fished everything else we threw top water in the monties, it felt like cheating and was surprised it made it home with the amount of fish it entised.

In the 2nd pic I was imitating a mullet, or herring with the 160 shiverstick, as they run the coast in schools in the summer months and probably the no.1 on the menu for Spanish, and big tailor.

So I base my choice on a blend of common sense and repeating results from previous success.

Still can't find these bright pink baitfish you all imatating 😭😂 but you get results? That also counts, run with what you have faith in, maybe they don't work for me because I don't tie one on, or buy them 😅. Maybe your targeting bi-curious fish 😅😂 jokes aside..
